2012 MV Agusta Brutale R 1090 ($93/day)
The Brutale R 1090 is the rarest bike you will find on Twisted Road. MV Agusta's 1,078cc inline four-cylinder engine produces 144 horsepower in a chassis that weighs 410 pounds dry. The exhaust note alone is worth the rental. This is an Italian naked sportbike built for riders who want something exotic, loud, and viscerally fast. You will not find another one for rent within several hundred miles.
2005 Triumph Bonneville T 100 ($63/day)
The Triumph Bonneville T 100 is the opposite of the Brutale in every way except fun. Its 790cc parallel twin produces a manageable 61 horsepower, and the upright riding position makes it comfortable for all-day rides through Virginia wine country. At 63 dollars a day, it is an accessible entry point for riders of all experience levels. A recent 5-star review praised it as the perfect bike for a Skyline Drive cruise.
2017 Triumph Thruxton 1200 R ($71/day)
The Thruxton 1200 R splits the difference between the Brutale's aggression and the Bonneville's ease. Its 1,200cc parallel twin makes 96 horsepower, and the cafe racer riding position keeps things engaging without being punishing. Where to Ride from Culpeper
Culpeper sits in the Virginia Piedmont, roughly 70 miles southwest of Washington, D.C. Skyline Drive and Shenandoah National Park are 40 minutes west. The Blue Ridge Parkway's northern terminus is within easy reach. Closer to town, the roads through Madison, Rappahannock, and Fauquier counties are some of the best-kept riding secrets on the East Coast: low traffic, smooth pavement, rolling hills, and vineyards on every horizon. Virginia's Route 211 through Sperryville to Luray is a must-ride.
