Member Spotlight: Q&A with Arkansas Motorcyclist, Michael B.

Michael B. of Eureka Springs shares his experiences cruising through Utah on a 2016 Indian Vintage. His love of motorcycles all started when he was a 6-year old-sitting on the gas tank of a Triumph.

Tell us about your riding experience. How long have you been riding, and how many bikes have you owned? How did you first become interested in riding?

My first ride on a motorcycle was when I was 6 years old (1962), on the gas tank of a Triumph. I’ve owned 15 motorcycles, but my favorites were the 1973 Kawasaki 500cc triple and the 1976 Kawasaki 900. The coolest bikes I’ve owned were the two Boss Hoss trikes.

Have you taken any long moto trips? Tell us about them -- where did you go, where did you stay, who did you ride with?

In September 2020 I rented a 2016 Indian Vintage for 8 days. I drove a total of 2,200 miles.  I saw Custer's Last Stand, a decommissioned nuclear missile site, Yellowstone Park, and Utah. Great time and the Indian was a joy to ride. Loved it.

Tell us some more about you -- where do you live? What kind of work do you do?

I live in Eureka Springs, Arkansas. It's a very hippy-dippy place here nestled in the Ozark Mountains. I’m a retired accountant and auditor.

What are your hobbies - what do you enjoy doing when you're not riding?

I’m always looking forward to my next motorcycle trip and finding new places and adventures. I enjoy scuba diving and I am qualified to be a dive instructor.

Tell us about your experiences with Twisted Road -- as either an owner, as a rider, or both. What do you enjoy most about being part of our community?

Austin answered all my initial questions about Twisted Road's rental program. He was quick with answers to my questions and I would not hesitate to use his company again.

What are your favorite rides near your hometown?

A great ride is Arkansas Hwy 7 thru the heart of the Ozark Mountains. It’s very scenic and doesn't have a lot of vehicle traffic, but we do have elk and deer that cross the country roads, so be cautious. Just a good scenic ride with plenty to see around each bend of the road.

Last question: where do you hope to ride one day?

Key West. That’s my next trip. I’d like to also ride Route 66 the entire length and then go to Washington State across ND and WY.
