Mr. Shaken-Not-Stirred is back in theatres—and this time with a new ride. This isn’t the first time that the Ian Fleming-created spy James Bond has ditched his Aston Martin for two wheels (actually, one wheel since he spends a lot of time popping wheelies); but it is the first time that the Bond franchise has entered into a partnership with Triumph. In fact, the moto brand is the exclusive motorcycle partner for the movie.
Both distinctly British, Triumph and Bond go together like fish and chips, which you must enjoy while head-to-toe in leather, of course. Triumph has released two James Bond motorcycles in honor of the latest flick, No Time To Die: Scrambler 1200 Bond Edition and Tiger 900 Bond Edition. The company is producing a limited 250 of each bike, individually numbered, making them immediate collector’s items.
The Bond Edition Scrambler, released in 2020, was inspired by the Scrambler 1200 custom stunt bike featured in the movie. Only 30 of these James Bond motorcycles were released in the United States. It features an all-black aesthetic, a certificate of authenticity, a Bond Handover Pack, and pressed 007 branding on its exhaust number board, and more unique features. Alas, the Scrambler 1200 Bond Edition has sold out.
But if you’re a Bond-fan and moto-lover, there’s still a chance to secure the Tiger 900 Bond Edition which will be hitting showrooms in May of 2022. The bike was inspired by the brand’s Tiger 900 Rally Pro. Like the Bond Scrambler, the Tiger will come with a signed certificate of authenticity plus a numbered handlebar clamp.
According to Triumph, “The Tiger 900 Bond Edition comes complete with a unique matte Sapphire Black paint scheme and a set of high specification Michelin Anakee Wild off-road tires, which can be fitted for advanced off-road capability.”
This isn’t the first movie-moto partnership, but what we think is especially cool is how hands-on the collaboration between the two icons has been. Stunt coordinators from the movie worked with Triumph to configure several motorcycles that could handle the “extreme and dynamic action sequences” of 007’s latest film.
The film's stunt coordinator Lee Morrison said of the bikes, “We loved the look of the Scrambler 1200, and we already knew we would use those in No Time To Die, but then Triumph offered us several prototypes of a bike that hadn’t yet been launched at that time, and that was the Tiger 900. The whole stunt team realised very quickly that these were amazing bikes. We rode those bikes so much in Off-Road Pro mode and the things are amazing... absolutely incredible.”
While we don’t have any James Bond motorcycles for you to try out (yet!) on Twisted Road, we’ve got more than enough Tigers and Scramblers for you to get your Triumph fix.
